Kuklachev’s Cat Theater is a unique and worldwide-known cat theater. ‘Fluffy artists’ is the only way to call cats in there. Veronica Ershova and Alexander Khokhlov photographed the most charismatic mmembers in the company of Dmitry Kuklachev. Kuklachev’s Cat Theater is the only cat theater in the world.

This theater was formed in 1990 and is still there. The theater was awarded Golden World Cup during the Paris tour in 1995, It received the title of “The Most Early Theater in the World” The International Association at the United Nations presented the theater with the “Golden Phenomenon” prize in the year 2006. Also, the Association of Broadway Theaters recognized the theater’s performance “Cats and the Artist” as the best play of the year.

Alexander is a professional photographer, and he mostly focused on pet photography and fine art. He and his wife Veronica work as a creative duo. She performs as a photographer as well. She is mostly the producer of Alexander’s shoots.
Alexander has been doing photography since 2008. He chose portrait photography as his true passion after trying a lot of genres. Then, he practiced a lot in portraits and art. In 2012/2013, he created an art series, and it became viral. It helped him to boost his further career as a photographer. He is still working on art projects and has already planned some art projects for the future.

They got an invitation from Dmitry Kuklachev to do a portfolio for the one and only cat theater in the world. Dimitri is the leader of the theater at the moment. They photographed around 40 furry artists in a week. But more than a hundred cats are living in the theater.

Before happening this photoshoot, these two had a lot of experience photographing dogs. But they said that it is different to work with cats because cats are not quite emotional as dogs, they can’t wait still for a few minutes, they do not fix their eyes to the camera, and smack, squeak, and attractive noises are often just useless. The most challenging part for them Is they had to show the personality and character of each animal, and it was also the fascinating part. Dimitry said that cats could not be taught anything on purpose; they can demonstrate their talent and abilities only during a play. So, they had to play with them to make cats relaxed and calm.

Dimitry knows the cat’s psychology perfectly, and he is a real professional and a wizard of his craft. He can move a cat in the right position with one movement, and he knows how to persuade a cat to throw the right look at the camera. Many of the fine artists in the theater are celebrities. They are stars in commercials.
We do love all the animals; you cannot get a good animal portrait if you don’t like them. All of them have great and unique abilities.

Kuklachev’s theater is a legendary place in Moscow. If anyone is visiting Moscow special with children, it’s highly recommended to visit this theater with them.
