A scar can last a lifetime and act as a constant reminder of the mistreatment that caused it. Tattoo artist Flavia Carvalho solved this problem by coming up with a solution. Free tattoos are provided through her “A Pele da Flor” (The Skin of the Flower) program to women who have been abused. For the past two years, Carvalho has been assisting ladies in covering up scars caused by bullets and knives. It is empowering to see how she has turned something so painful into something that may give her power and enhance her attractiveness.
The artist Flavia Carvalho maintains her workshop in the Brazilian city of Curitiba. Carvalho told the Huffington Post, “I started the project a few weeks ago, and never in my wildest dreams did I expect it would gain so much media attention.” “Things just kind of fell into place that way.” As I previously stated, my services are free, and the only “fee” that the women need to pay is for the artwork they want to have tattooed on their bodies!

About two years ago, I began working with a woman who wanted to hide a significant scar on her abdomen that she had previously experienced.

Patients who have had a mastectomy are eligible for her to provide them with free tattoos.
A tattoo similar to this will be used to cover up the bullet wounds.
