In the Bordeaux region of Southwestern France, there is a cabin that was built just like three forest owls. Now it’s ready for campers, and it’s completely free to spend the night. This place is a part of an initiative encouraging city dwellers to get off the grid and experience nature, and we can’t hide; we truly want to go there.
This cabin is called ‘Les Guetteurs’ (‘The Watchers’) and it was designed and built by modern art producer ‘Zébra3’. These cabins are a project commissioned by an artist-architect collective ‘Bruit de Frigo’ and it is a part of their operation called ‘Refuges périurbains’ (“peri-urban shelters”).
These wonderful cabins are made of plywood. It contains three floors and circle-shaped white beds. There is also an adjoined boardwalk overlooking the wetland that is close to the cabin.
Les Guetteurs is an excellent place to spend a night and get a new unique experience without electricity and inside a wooden owl-shaped fabulous cabin. So, if you are ever thinking to go Bordeaux, and don’t miss this place to spend a few days free of charge.
